TRAIL/WEATHER CONDITIONS

Wonderful Sunday Morning...

NO rain/precipitation overnight. Looks as though today is going to be much like yesterday...cold, very cold. As of 9:45 a.m., we have a current temperature of 28 degrees. It is cloudy and overcast again today...NO sun. Those venturing out to Bulcher today will experience extremely foggy conditions. Also, right now outside, there is a fine precipitation falling. It is a cross between a fine wet rain mist, but then at other times, it is more like a small snowflake. But again, it is very light, so it won't amount to much. The forecast is calling for highs today to be in the low 40's...but we'll be doing good if we even make it that "warm."

Current park conditions are as follows:

* There is still a light snow covering over everything.
* Most trees are either iced over or have snow on them.
* Trails are a cross between being frozen (ones with standing frozen puddles) and somewhat muddy due to a little thawing.

If you venture out to Bulcher today...dress in layers & bring a camera. NO problem with road conditions getting here.

REMINDER: RRMT, INC. is NOT responsible for those getting their recreational vehicles stuck & does not have to pull people out! Furthermore, DO NOT DRIVE over LARGE BODIES OF FROZEN WATER!

** RRMT, Inc. is OPEN today, Sunday, January 31! We have park operation hours of 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. today. All Members, Guests, and Visitors Welcome Today! **

It's the last day of the weekend...get out & do something different today...go winter trail riding!

Saturday Snow Pictures

As promised here are some pictures from Friday's snow, but that we just took pictures of today. By the time we got around to taking these pictures today, some of the snow had melted, but there is still some snow left as very evident from the pictures. While it didn't compare to the Christmas snow we received, it made for a picturesque Saturday.

Enjoy!

* Thanks to these customers who took time from enjoying their day to pose for this picture. Thanks guys!

P.S. We'll be open tomorrow, Sunday, January 31, 2010....we'll open at 9:30 a.m. & be open until 6 p.m. See you then!
TRAIL/WEATHER CONDITIONS

Thinking of a Weekend Snow Getaway?

Pricey Ski Resort vs. Affordable Bulcher, Texas?
Only a short commute...and you can enjoy snow!

Well let's see...where do we start...yesterday we enjoyed a steady snowfall pretty much all day long. There was periods of heavy snow fall but for the most part, it was just a slow, steady snow fall all day long. What we have now...a snow covered oasis! Everything is covered with snow. Those venturing here from the DFW metroplex will not experience any road problems, but when coming out of Muenster right after Turtle Hill Golf Course, the roads get a little icy (but not bad...we made it without 4 wheel drive) and from Turtle Hill Golf Course on out to Bulcher, is when you will experience and see the sides of the ground more heavily covered in snow. While this snow does not compare to the Christmas snow (8 iniches +) we had back in December...we do have 1/2 inch to 1 inch of snow on the ground currently. Those coming from the west will experience worse conditions, Saint Jo & towns to the west have even more snow & worse road conditions we are told.

So what should you expect this weekend...snowy, icy, frozen trails. Very cold conditions...as of 9:30 a.m., we have a current temperature of 24 degrees. It is cloudy/overcast today...NO sun. Furthermore, as of this morning, we have no falling precipation...rain nor snow and are not expecting any today. Our high today is supposed to be in the low 30's...so we'll be doing good if we even get above freezing. Reccomendations for this weekend include dressing in lots of layers and also packing a camera...it is so pretty with everything covered in snow.

We will try to post some pictures on this blog later on this evening...so everyone can enjoy!

REMINDER: RRMT, INC. is NOT responsible for those getting their recreational vehicles stuck & does not have to pull people out! Furthermore, DO NOT DRIVE over LARGE BODIES OF FROZEN WATER!

** RRMT, Inc. is OPEN this weekend...today, Saturday, January 30 & Sunday, January 31! We have park operation hours of 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. today (Saturday), and due to current weather conditions, a delayed opening time for tomorrow (Sunday) is necesary as well. Sunday, January 31st's park hours will be 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. as well. All Members, Guests, and Visitors Welcome This Weekend! **

DELAYED OPENING TIME - SATURDAY, JANUARY 30

We have just decided that we are going to have a delayed opening time tomorrow, Saturday, January 30. We had originally thought we would open at normal time, 8 a.m., but due to freezing conditions that are anticipated tonight, we feel that a delayed opening time tomorrow is necessary due to anticipated icy conditions possible tomorrow morning. Thus, we have changed our park hours in the previous blog below that we just posted at 10 a.m. this morning.

Saturday's (tomorrow) park hours will be 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

We plan on being open on Sunday (1/31/2010) as well, but we will announce Sunday's park hours sometime tomorrow.

P.S. It is still snowing here...but now it is a very light snow...no accumulations.

Cheers...

TRAIL/WEATHER CONDITIONS

Snowy Friday...

NO additional rain/precipitation overnight. As of an hour ago, it started snowing & it is snowing heavily as we write this blog. We have huge, beautiful flakes coming down. The roads are not bad here now, but we just found out that most of the local schools in our area are now making plans to close early by noon or early afternoon. As of 10 a.m., we have a current temperature of 33 degrees with a wind chill of 26 degrees....it feels sooooo cold! It is a cloudy/overcast day...as we have already reached our "high" temperature of the day. The problem up here is that due to the current near-freezing temperatures, the rain we got yesterday & the snow that we are getting now will be freezing soon (as the temperature drops) on our roadways making driving treacherous. Today & tonight should be all of the freezing temperatures and anticipated precipitation. The weekend looks like a very cold one, but the forecast is predicating sun with no further precipitation, but we'll just have to wait and see. There is a current winter weather advisory in effect for our area as detailed below:

Issued by The National Weather Service
Dallas/Fort Worth, TX
5:50 am CST, Fri., Jan. 29, 2010

... WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON CST TODAY...

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR LIGHT ICING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON CST TODAY.

THE WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IS FOR THAT PART OF NORTH TEXAS ALONG AND NORTHWEST OF AN EASTLAND TO GAINESVILLE LINE. A STRONG COLD FRONT HAS MOVED THROUGH THE ADVISORY AREA AND TEMPERATURES WILL CONTINUE TO FALL BELOW FREEZING THIS MORNING. ANY RAIN THAT FALLS THROUGH THE SUBFREEZING AIR NEAR THE GROUND WILL TURN INTO FREEZING RAIN AS IT CONTACTS SURFACES AND OBJECTS THAT ARE AT OR BELOW FREEZING. ICE WILL INITIALLY ACCUMULATE ON ELEVATED SURFACES AND POWER LINES... BUT AS TEMPERATURES CONTINUE TO FALL... SOME ICE MAY ALSO ACCUMULATE ON ROADWAYS. THE FREEZING RAIN WILL DIMINISH IN INTENSITY AND END BY MIDDAY. ICE ACCUMULATIONS ARE EXPECTED TO AVERAGE ONE TENTH OF AN INCH... MAINLY ON ELEVATED SURFACES... TO THE NORTHWEST OF A CISCO TO GAINESVILLE LINE.

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY MEANS THAT PERIODS OF WINTER PRECIPITATION MAY CAUSE TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR SLIPPERY ROADS AND PLAN ON SOME TRAVEL DELAYS.

----- At this time, RRMT, Inc. has elected to remain open this weekend, but will have a delayed opening time on Saturday. Thus, RRMT, Inc. will be OPEN this weekend...tomorrow, Saturday, January 30 & Sunday, January 31! We will have park operation hours of 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. tomorrow (Saturday), and we will announce Sunday's park hours sometime tomorrow.. All Members, Guests, and Visitors Welcome This Weekend!

But due to the current weather conditions, please refer below regarding winter park conditions.

*** NOTE: This weekend...you can be rest assured that park conditions are wet, muddy, and cold. Furthermore, expect slick spots as well as possible icy trails. While conditions are very wet now, and there are standing puddles everywhere...a lot could change pending how much snow we receive as well. We don't imagine that we will have big accumulations, but according to reports over by Bowie and Sunset, the ground is already covered (with snow) over there and that storm is moving our way. The main concern will be the icy roads in and around our area.

REMINDER: RRMT, INC. is NOT responsible for those getting their recreational vehicles stuck & does not have to pull people out!

Here's our usual Friday report to help you out as well...

RRMT, INC.'S RAIN GAUGE RECAP
Just as a recap, leading up to today, here are this week's rainfall totals that we pulled off each of our daily blogs from the week:

* Monday--NO PRECIPITATION
overnight-- NO PRECIPITATION
* Tuesday-- NO PRECIPITATION
overnight-- NO PRECIPITATION
* Wednesday -- NO PRECIPITATION
overnight--NO PRECIPITATION
* Thursday-- 1 inch of rain
overnight—NO PRECIPITATION
* Friday (TODAY)-- Heavy snow fall as of 10 a.m....no accumulations to report, just yet.

TRAILS
All of our trails are OPEN....this includes all trails on both the North & East sides. Bill's Woods & the New Property are both open as well...ENJOY!

Mountain Creek is at its normal level, except down toward the mouth of the Red River where we advise riders to use caution. No problem crossing Mountain Creek at this time. As always we would like to remind everyone that just because a trail was there on your last ride...don't expect it to be there on your next ride. Water (from the April 2009 rains) has really changed a lot of our trail system, so we advise everyone to use extreme caution even when riding on trails that you were once familiar.

Riders to RRMT, Inc. will now find that RRMT, Inc. has over 30 new point of interest signs installed out on the trails. These are a great new addition to the park & we are very proud of them! These signs will help you catch the iRide Bulcher, Texas fever as you continue to learn about the various unique parts of the RRMT, Inc. Facility!

** Please note that as of the winter riding season, our sign project has been put on hold. We will resume crafting and putting up the rest of these signs probably in the spring time frame, when all winter weather is completely over with!

RED RIVER
The Red River remains at its normal level. There still remains some lurking murky water/quicksand being pushed up into the mouth of Mountain Creek from the river, so watch out for it...getting stuck is possible.

CREEK
While riding in Mountain Creek is possible and crossing the creek is also possible...please use caution when in the creek, especially further down the creek toward the river. It is very possible to sink your recreational vehicle in the creek due to quicksand & lots of mud if not careful. Please note that if you get stuck, RRMT, Inc. is under no obligation to tow you out!

TRAIL/WEATHER CONDITIONS

Good Thursday Evening...

NO rain yesterday but starting late last night thru all day today...and even now....it has rained, and rained, and rained. It has just been a slow rain, saturating everything. It was a gloomy, cold, dreary day. Looks as though 1 inch of rain was in the gauge, but when looking around the park campgrounds, there are huge puddles standing everywhere. It is a big, muddy mess. As of 7:15 p.m., we have a current temperature of 38 degrees. We're expecting freezing temperatures overnight and the forecast is telling us that we stand a good chance for the rain in our area to change over to a light wintry mix by late tonight/early tomorrow morning, but we'll just have to update you tomorrow. As of now, no problems with road conditions...just lots of water everywhere due to the rain though.

Pending the weather tonight/tomorrow, in tomorrow's blog we will be making a judgment call on the park's status for this coming weekend (whether we will for sure be open or not)...so check back with us tomorrow!

TRAIL/WEATHER CONDITIONS

Howdy...

Well first my apologizes for getting this blog to you so late...today just hasn't been my day...on my way to work this morning, my vehicle broke down & for those of you that know the road between Muenster & Bulcher...good luck getting cell reception on that winding road...anyways, finally got someone to pick me up thankfully & bring me to work. Then to top it off, where did my warm sunshine, spring day go that the weather forecasters promised me? Gees.

NO rain overnight. But some rain rolled in early this morning as we have already had a morning rain shower here in Bulcher...just looked in the gauge & it wasn't enough to measure to report, but just enough to make things wet & muddy. So this morning as of 10:50 a.m., we have a current temperature of 52 degrees. It is cloudy and overcast this morning, NO sun :-( with high temperatures now only anticipated in the low 60's. I think I am giving up on weather forecasters...'cause everything they promised, they couldn't deliver. While it is not raining now, with the way the skies look currently, we could possibly get additional showers throughout the day, but we'll just have to wait and see. Expect NO dust, but wet trail conditions today.

There'll be many riding this weekend...
The question is "WILL YOU BE RIDING THIS WEEKEND?"

NO rain yesterday or overnight. This morning as of 10 a.m., we have a current temperature of 55 degrees with beautiful sunny skies. It's only morning, but wow...it's going to be a fantastic day....low 70's expected for highs today with clear skies...a little on the windy side as well...but still super nice! We have received NO rain thus far today. The forecast for the weekend looks equally as nice...both tomorrow (Sat.) and Sun., we're anticipating 60 degree weather, with tomorrow's weather being upper 60's. The forecast is calling for possible rain showers tomorrow (Sat.), but we'll just have to wait and see. With this type of weather, the time to kick off the weekend is NOW!

Here is your comprehensive report on park trail/weather conditions & your outlook on weekend riding conditions...

RRMT, INC.'S RAIN GAUGE RECAP
Just as a recap, leading up to today, here are this week's rainfall totals that we pulled off each of our daily blogs from the week:

* Monday--NO PRECIPITATION
overnight-- NO PRECIPITATION
* Tuesday-- NO PRECIPITATION
overnight-- NO PRECIPITATION
* Wednesday -- NO PRECIPITATION
overnight--NO PRECIPITATION
* Thursday-- NO PRECIPITATION
overnight—NO PRECIPITATION
* Friday (TODAY)-- NO PRECIPITATION as of 10 a.m.

While we did have a couple of sprinkles of rain this week (which we didn't even report because it wasn't even enough to measure)...for the most part, NO rain this week...so expect dry conditions.

With no significant moisture this week to report, dry conditions are anticipated. The only mud riders will find will be in the creek as well as a few lingering puddles in some low lying/shaded trails, but those will be few and far between. All trails will be dry & with this weather...weekend trail riding hasn't ever looked so good!

It is very possible to sink your recreational vehicle in the creek due to quicksand if not careful. Please note that if you get stuck, RRMT, Inc. is under no obligation to tow you out!

The weekend has arrived...the question is "Are you ready for it?"

TRAIL/WEATHER CONDITIONS

Terrific Thursday...

NO rain yesterday or overnight. This morning as of 10 a.m., we have a current temperature of 48 degrees coupled with bright sunny skies. It is a bit chilly at the moment, but that won't last long as we anticipate another gorgeous day here in the Red River Valley...low to mid 60's expected for high temperatures today. While today is going to be nice...look out, 'cause you haven't seen nothing yet...tomorrow (Friday) and Saturday are going to give you that extra "spring fever boost" that you are needing this week...temperatures tomorrow and Saturday are expected to top out in the low 70's. Sunday looks nice too, but a little cooler. We have received NO rain thus far today.

Our weather is GREAT, riding is PERFECT...but do you see a problem with this scenario...

Something is MISSING...?

TRAIL/WEATHER CONDITIONS

Howdy...

Yesterday and overnight, a light mist fell on and off. (But nothing measurable to report...just enough to make it muddy and messy.) This morning as of 8:55 a.m., we have a current temperature of 38 degrees. If you venture out to Bulcher this morning, you will find that we are under a dense fog advisory, so use caution. The fog is expected to burn off though as already the sun is trying to break thru the clouds, but has been unsuccessful thus far (but nevertheless, we are expecting to see it today before day's end). We are anticipating a really gorgeous day...low 60's for high temperatures today. There is a heavy dew on the ground & everything this morning. Anticipate slick & muddy trails today, so be prepared.

More moisture to report...while we didn't receive any rain yesterday, we did get a slow rain overnight...amounting to an additional 2 tenths of rain. (Note: Now we are up to 4 tenths of rain received this week.) It literally rained all night long...and this morning we have a fine mist falling as well. A Sigh of Relief Goes The Crowd...Finally Friday!

While we didn't receive any rain yesterday, we did get some moisture overnight...2 tenths of rain was received. This afternoon as of 1 p.m., we have a current temperature of 53. The forecast is calling for possible additional showers for our area either tonight or early tomorrow, but we'll just have to wait and see & keep you posted. We have received NO rain thus far today. The weather outlook for this weekend looks particularly bright as it will be a great opportunity for everyone to get rid of the "cold weather blues" we have all had recently & get outdoors for some much needed recreational fun. Half Way Thru The Week On This Wednesday...

NO rain yesterday or overnight. This afternoon as of 12:35 p.m., we have a current temperature of 59 degrees. It has been cloudy all morning, but just recently the sun has shown its face as it tries so hard to get out from behind the clouds...looks as though it will make its way out completely before the day is over. With our current temperature, we have pretty much reached our high of the day, so enjoy. Today we actually have about the same temperature we enjoyed yesterday, but today feels a little colder due to the wind and a.m. cloudy conditions. We have received NO rain thus far today.

TRAIL/WEATHER CONDITIONS

Hello Gorgeous Weather...

NO rain yesterday or overnight. Today has turned out to be a super nice day. As of 3:30 p.m., we have a current temperature of 54 degrees. We are enjoying bright sunny skies on this lovely January afternoon. If you haven't gotten outdoors today, you really should! You're missing out. We have received NO rain thus far today.

Let's see...an array of new announcements, so where do we start.

2010 Event Calendar Now Posted On Our Website
* Today we updated our events calendar on our website for 2010. This should give everyone a tentative idea of the upcoming year (events, holidays, etc.) at our facility. But as always, our calendar is subject to change, so it is a good idea to call before you haul or always check our website or blog to be sure we are open.

Designated Spring Break Week...March 15-19, 2010
* Now that we have updated our calendar for 2010, many of you will notice that we are trying something new this year...RRMT, Inc. will be open for one designated spring break week...March 15-19, 2010. We will be open every day (Mon.-Fri.) this ONE WEEK ONLY in observation of spring break. If you would like to come this week, just show up. We will be open to the general public. If you have a different spring break & would like to come a different week - then an appointment will be required for all other weekday (Mon.-Fri.) riding/camping in the month of March. Also, for your convenience, RRMT, Inc. will be OPEN all weekends (Saturdays & Sundays) during the month of March.

Futhermore, if you are interested in a RV rental for spring break week or another spring date of your choice, please contact our park office to schedule your reservation.

NO rain thus far since our last blog posting. This morning as of 9:15 a.m., we have a current temperature of 18 degrees. The sun is out luckily this morning & it is going to be somewhat of a warmer day, but not by much...low 40's expected for highs today. If you are looking for a comprehensive report on park trail/weather conditions, please refer to Friday's blog.

It's the last day of the weekend, get out & enjoy it before it's over...because tomorrow when you are back at work, you'll be regretting it if you don't!

TRAIL/WEATHER CONDITIONS

Happy Friday...On This Bitterly Cold Morning!

NO rain yesterday or overnight...just trying to stay warm from the extremely cold weather we have been having here this week. This morning as of 8 a.m., we have a current temperature of 12 degrees, but due to the wind chill, it actually feels like -1 below outside. It is soooooooooo cold! With temperatures as cold as this, you would think we were at the North Pole, except minus the snow. We have not had temperatures like this in a long time. While the sun is starting to make its way out this morning, it is not going to be much help warming things up today. As we don't expect to even get above freezing today...in fact, for our area, the forecast predicted that we may not even get above 30 degrees today. We have received NO rain/precipitation thus far today. Of course, all roads & the ground is clear with no problems as we are just battling the extremely cold temperatures.

WIND CHILL ADVISORY
* Please note that there is a wind chill advisory in effect for Cooke County (the county our park is located in) until 10 am CST, (today) Fri., Jan. 8, 2010.

See below for more information regarding the wind chill advisory:

Issued by The National Weather Service
Dallas/Fort Worth, TX
5:41 am CST, Fri., Jan. 8, 2010

... WIND CHILL ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 AM CST THIS MORNING...

A WIND CHILL ADVISORY FOR WIND CHILL VALUES BELOW ZERO AT TIMES... REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 AM CST THIS MORNING.

TEMPERATURES THIS MORNING RANGE BETWEEN 10 TO 20 DEGREES ACROSS THE WIND CHILL ADVISORY AREA. THE VERY COLD LOW TEMPERATURES COMBINED WITH NORTH WINDS BETWEEN 15 AND 20 MPH WITH HIGHER GUSTS WILL RESULT IN FRIGID WIND CHILLS THROUGH THE EARLY MORNING HOURS. WIND CHILLS RANGING BETWEEN ZERO TO FIVE BELOW ZERO ARE EXPECTED.

A WIND CHILL ADVISORY MEANS THAT VERY COLD AIR AND STRONG WINDS WILL COMBINE TO GENERATE LOW WIND CHILLS. PROLONGED EXPOSURE TO THE COLD MAY RESULT IN FROST BITE AND LEAD TO HYPOTHERMIA IF PRECAUTIONS ARE NOT TAKEN. IF YOU MUST VENTURE OUTDOORS... WEAR A HEAVY COAT... HAT AND GLOVES.

---- ** If you have looked at the forecast, tomorrow (Saturday) is the day that the forecast is predicting that we'll get above freezing, but tomorrow, we will barely get above it. On Sunday the forecast is predicting the high to reach 40, but that is about it. So while the forecast is predicted to be sunny for the weekend, it sure is going to be cold.

RRMT, INC. OPEN THIS WEEKEND WITH DELAYED OPENING TIME
In despite of the cold, our park will be OPEN this weekend, but please note that due to the cold temperatures, we will have a delayed opening time, of 9 a.m., both tomorrow (Saturday) and Sunday. Thus, RRMT, Inc. will be OPEN this weekend...Saturday, January 9 & Sunday, January 10! This weekend only, we will have park operation hours of 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days. All Members, Guests, and Visitors Welcome this weekend!

NEW PARK BROCHURES
Furthermore, our brand new park brochures arrived late yesterday afternoon! So as of this weekend & going forward, these new brochures will be available to all individuals requesting literature about our park. Just the start of new stuff we will be getting in for 2010 for the park. Get excited!

TRIALS EVENT THIS WEEKEND POSTPONED
One last announcement is to let everyone know that if they had looked on our events page on our website, our park was originally scheduled to host a trials competition (NTTA'S 31ST ANNUAL NOVICE CUP/PRESIDENT'S CUP 2-DAY TRIAL) this weekend, Sat. & Sun. Due to the weather, that event has been postponed & it has already been rescheduled for the weekend of January 16 & 17 at our park. So mark that change down on your calendars & don't show up this weekend at our park for this event because it is NOT this weekend!

It's time to kick off your weekend, so here is a recap to get you ready for the weekend...a really cold weekend!

RRMT, INC.'S RAIN GAUGE RECAP
Just as a recap, leading up to today, here are this week's rainfall/snow totals that we pulled off each of our daily blogs from the week:

* Monday--NO PRECIPITATION
overnight-- NO PRECIPITATION
* Tuesday-- NO PRECIPITATION
overnight-- NO PRECIPITATION
* Wednesday -- NO PRECIPITATION
overnight--NO PRECIPITATION
* Thursday-- NO PRECIPITATION
overnight—NO PRECIPITATION
* Friday (TODAY)-- NO PRECIPITATION as of 8 a.m.

No moisture this week in the Red River Valley.

Despite the fact that we didn't have any moisture this week, due to the cold temperatures all week long and the fact that we really haven't warmed up since all the snow/rain during Christmas week, it should come as no surprise that things are still a bit muddy in places and that standing (frozen) puddles should be anticipated on some low lying/shaded trails. Furthermore, all creeks & bodies of water are frozen so please use caution. DO NOT DRIVE OVER LARGE BODIES OF FROZEN WATER! ALSO WATCH FOR FROZEN/SLICK SPOTS ON TRAILS! Reminder: Just because a trail was there on your last ride...don't expect it to be there on your next ride.

Facility!
** Please note that due to the extremely frigid weather, our sign project has been put on hold. We will resume crafting and putting up the rest of these signs probably in the spring time frame, as this winter is proving itself to be a very cold one!

RED RIVER
The Red River is at a higher level than normal.

It is very possible to sink your recreational vehicle in the creek due to quicksand if not careful. Also, be sure to watch for frozen patches of water in Mountain Creek that could break if you drive over & then you could sink into mud or quicksand. Please note that if you get stuck, RRMT, Inc. is under no obligation to tow you out!

** Due to the extremely frigid temperatures, tent camping this weekend is not recommended! **

WEEKEND RV RENTALS
It's too cold to sleep in a tent. You need a RV Rental!

Otherwise, all walk-up RV Site rentals are welcome as well. TRAIL/WEATHER CONDITIONS

Good Evening...

Sorry for our late posting, but you haven't missed anything weather-wise, except extremely cold temperatures! NO rain yesterday or overnight. Today while we did see the sun, it was so cold (we never got above freezing)...and windy. As of this posting at 5:35 p.m., we have a current temperature of 26 degrees, but the wind chill is 12! We are anticipating another cold night & day tomorrow. So stay warm. We have received NO rain thus far today.

There is a wind chill advisory for our area as issued by the National Weather Service that we thought we would share with everyone:

TRAIL/WEATHER CONDITIONS

Half Way Thru The Week On This Wednesday...

NO rain yesterday or overnight. This morning as of 7:45 a.m., we have a current temperature of 30 degrees. While the sun isn't out just yet, we are expecting to see the sun today, but it won't do much good (warmth-wise) as we only anticipate highs today to be in the upper 40's. However, starting tonight, we'll think those upper 40's are a heat wave, because get ready...tonight a cold front is supposed to move into our area, so if it hasn't been cold enough for you, just wait...we'll be even colder starting tonight throughout the next couple of days. We have received NO rain thus far today.

Starting to sound like a broken record, but oh well...much like the past few days, there is a special winter weather alert for our area as issued by the National Weather Service that we thought we would share with everyone:

Issued by The National Weather Service
Dallas/Fort Worth, TX
6:05 am CST, Wed., Jan. 6, 2010

... AN ARCTIC AIRMASS TO BRING FRIGID TEMPERATURES TO NORTH TEXAS THURSDAY THROUGH SATURDAY...

AN ARCTIC COLD FRONT WILL ARRIVE INTO NORTH TEXAS WEDNESDAY NIGHT AND BRING AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF FREEZING TEMPERATURES TO THE REGION. TEMPERATURES WILL DROP BELOW FREEZING AFTER MIDNIGHT THURSDAY AND SHOULD BRIEFLY RISE ABOVE FREEZING SATURDAY AFTERNOON FOR MOST LOCATIONS ACROSS NORTH TEXAS. GUSTY NORTH WINDS 20 TO 30 MPH WILL ACCOMPANY THE ARCTIC FRONT... WHICH WILL RESULT IN FRIGID WIND CHILLS INTO THE TEENS AND SINGLE DIGITS BY THURSDAY MORNING ACROSS MOST OF NORTH TEXAS. WIND CHILLS MAY DROP BELOW ZERO FOR AREAS NORTH OF INTERSTATE 20 FRIDAY MORNING.

IN ADDITION TO THE ARCTIC AIR... A CHANCE OF LIGHT RAIN WILL BE POSSIBLE WEDNESDAY EVENING... BEFORE CHANGING OVER TO PATCHY LIGHT FREEZING RAIN OR DRIZZLE BEFORE DAYBREAK THURSDAY MORNING... AS THE ATMOSPHERE SLOWLY DRIES OUT. AREAS NORTH OF A MERIDIAN TO HILLSBORO TO ATHENS LINE WILL BE THE MOST LIKELY LOCATIONS TO SEE FROZEN PRECIPITATION. NO SIGNIFICANT ACCUMULATION OF ICE IS EXPECTED AT THIS TIME. HOWEVER... SOME PATCHY LIGHT ICING IS POSSIBLE BETWEEN MIDNIGHT AND DAYBREAK THURSDAY MORNING... MAINLY ON ELEVATED BRIDGES AND OVERPASSES THAT REMAIN WET AS THE ARCTIC AIR MOVES IN. THIS COULD RESULT IN SOME SLICK SPOTS FOR THE THURSDAY MORNING COMMUTE.

RESIDENTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO MAKE PREPARATIONS NOW. A HARD FREEZE CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EXPOSED WATER PIPES AND CAN DAMAGE SENSITIVE VEGETATION. OUTDOOR PETS WILL ALSO REQUIRE PLENTY OF SHELTER AND PROTECTION FROM FRIGID TEMPERATURES AND WIND CHILLS THAT ARE EXPECTED THURSDAY INTO FRIDAY MORNING. EXTRA PROTECTIVE CLOTHING WILL BE NEEDED FOR ANYONE EXPECTED TO BE OUTDOORS AT THESE TIMES... ESPECIALLY CHILDREN GOING TO AND FROM SCHOOL. LAYERS OF CLOTHING AND AN INSULATED WINTER COAT AND HAT WORK BEST TO INSULATE THE BODY FROM THE EXTREME COLD.

FURTHER DETAILS ON ANY POTENTIAL FREEZING PRECIPITATION AND THE DURATION OF THE FREEZING TEMPERATURES WILL BE PROVIDED AS THE EVENT CONTINUES TO NEAR.

TRAIL/WEATHER CONDITIONS

Good Tuesday Morning Folks...

Well our blog has to start out something like this...

While the TCU Horned Frogs came away short last night when the 4th quarter ended in Glendale, Arizona, the entire frog team played their hearts out in the bowl game & we wanted to give a shout out to the horned frog football team to say "Awesome Season"...Keep Your Heads Up...We're Proud of You! While losing this game is hard, everyone is already excited and looking forward to next season. The sky's the limit! Go Frogs!

Now onto weather...

NO rain yesterday or overnight. This morning as of 8:15 a.m., we have a current temperature of 20 degrees. There is a heavy frost covering the ground this morning at wake-up. We don't have any sun thus far today...as it is cloudy and overcast at the current moment; however, we are expecting to see the sun today at some point. Even with the anticipated sun, we are not expecting too much of a warm-up today...low 40's expected for highs. We have received NO rain thus far today. Tip: Bundle Up & Stay Warm Today!

Similar to yesterday, there is a special winter weather alert for our area as issued by the National Weather Service that we thought we would share with everyone:

Issued by The National Weather Service
Dallas/Fort Worth, TX
6:07 am CST, Tue., Jan. 5, 2010

... ARCTIC AIRMASS TO BRING MUCH COLDER WEATHER TO NORTH TEXAS LATER THIS WEEK...

AN ARCTIC AIRMASS WILL ARRIVE IN NORTH TEXAS WEDNESDAY NIGHT AND BRING AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF FREEZING TEMPERATURES TO THE REGION. TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED TO DIP BELOW FREEZING AFTER MIDNIGHT WEDNESDAY NIGHT AND THEN REMAIN BELOW FREEZING THROUGH EARLY AFTERNOON SATURDAY FOR MOST LOCATIONS IN NORTH TEXAS.

WITH AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF SUB FREEZING TEMPERATURES EXPECTED... RESIDENTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO MAKE PREPARATIONS. A HARD FREEZE CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EXPOSED WATER PIPES AND CAN DAMAGE SENSITIVE VEGETATION. OUTDOOR PETS WILL ALSO REQUIRE PROTECTION FROM THIS ARCTIC OUTBREAK. WIND CHILL VALUES ARE EXPECTED TO FALL INTO THE SINGLE DIGITS OR LOWER DURING THE DAY THURSDAY AND CONTINUE INTO FRIDAY MORNING. EXTRA PROTECTIVE CLOTHING WILL BE NEEDED FOR ANYONE EXPECTED TO BE OUTDOORS AT THESE TIMES... ESPECIALLY CHILDREN GOING TO SCHOOL.

THERE IS ALSO SOME PRECIPITATION IN THE FORECAST WEDNESDAY NIGHT AS THE ARCTIC COLD FRONT MOVES THROUGH THE AREA. AT THIS TIME MUCH OF THE PRECIPITATION LOOKS TO FALL AS RAIN BEFORE THE DEEPER ARCTIC AIRMASS MOVES INTO THE REGION. THERE IS SOME POSSIBILITY THAT PRECIPITATION WILL BRIEFLY CHANGE OVER TO LIGHT FREEZING RAIN OR LIGHT SNOW BEFORE ENDING THURSDAY MORNING. NO ACCUMULATION OF WINTRY PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED AT THIS TIME. ANY ROADWAYS THAT REMAIN WET THURSDAY MORNING AS THE ARCTIC AIR MOVES IN MAY FREEZE OVER CAUSING SLICK SPOTS.

FURTHER DETAILS ON ANY POTENTIAL FREEZING PRECIPITATION AND THE DURATION OF THE FREEZING TEMPERATURES WILL BE PROVIDED AS THE EVENT NEARS.
