Hi Again...Welcome back to Snowy Bulcher, Texas!

As promised we are back...with lots of information & pictures.



First and foremost, we want to start off by letting everyone know our weekend schedule. After surveying the park conditions today, we have elected to only be open 1 day this weekend. Furthermore, for those of you members off on Monday, which is President's Day, you also have the opportunity to schedule an appointment for weekday access.

So here is our park's status. We are currently CLOSED. RRMT, Inc. will be CLOSED tomorrow, Saturday, February 13th. We will OPEN first thing on Valentine's Day (Sunday, February 14th) at 8 a.m. We will have park hours on Sunday of 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Then for President's day (Monday, February 15th) park access, please call or email us for an appointment. If you will be coming in on Sunday and staying over Sunday night to ride Monday, be sure to tell us on Sunday night that you are camping. This overnight Sunday camping option is only valid for members and is not valid to the general public since on Monday we are only open to members & their guests & not to the general public.



Here is our plan...we are going to let everyone know of the current conditions in and around the Red River Valley area as well as at our park. Since we will not be open tomorrow, Saturday, we will not post our usual Friday comprehensive report...instead that will be posted tomorrow (Saturday) in order to get your ready for Sunday winter trail riding.



Please note that all pictures on this blog were taken today, Friday, February 12th between noon and 1 p.m.



Well we will first start with current road conditions in and around the Bulcher area. Honestly, there are no problems. We checked out Highway 82 as well as FM 373 (which runs from Muenster to Bulcher). While you can still find slick spots, the county did a really good job of grading the roads and getting them clear. So actual road conditions are in good shape. See photos below of FM 373.







As for highways and major county roads in our area...things look good. Now...other county roads around our area are a different story...they haven't been touched by the county. In fact, right around 1 p.m., the county had just got their graders out to the area to tackle the less traveled smaller county roads as shown by the pictures below:







The current park conditions can be described as follows:

Unlike the highways and major county roads in our area, driving into the park's entrance even to the main office, if you don't have a 4 wheel drive vehicle, you'll get stuck (without 4 wheel drive, you'll just start spinning your tires because you won't be able to get any traction) hands down even though you have only gone a couple hundred feet off the county road pavement. We are expecting the snow to melt somewhat by Sunday, but there is just no way that all of it will completely melt so don't worry. Our thoughts are this...hopefully by Sunday at least some of it will melt to help the road conditions just throughout the main park and campground because right now the only vehicles that are getting around are 4 wheel drive automobiles. Also, by only being open 1 weekend day (Sunday) for riding to the general public...this will help minimize damage to our facility's trails and roads due to the past couple of months really wet conditions that continue to compound & wear on the park as we continue to receive brutal winter weather (or at least brutal for us Texans who are not use to this type of weather on a regular basis). By Sunday, the main campground roads should be in better shape. (But even on Sunday, we would encourage that if you have a 4 wheel drive, bring it because we can never guarantee conditions.) Also, by waiting 'til Sunday, with some of the snow melting, trails will be better defined to guide riders throughout our trail system. This is imperative for safety purposes, so thank you for everyone's understanding.



We most definitely received a good 8 inches of snow. Everything is completely covered. There are some drifts, but for the most part, this time unlike during the holidays, this was more of a flat snow since it wasn't as windy when the snow was falling. The park is extremely beautiful and we hope you are already planning a unique Valentine's Day for you & your group of friends/family....plan to ride Bulcher Sunday. Besides, when is the last time that you were able to go winter snow trail riding in Texas on Valentine's Day?



Like we said before, we will back tomorrow (Saturday) with a complete report on what you can anticipate for Sunday, but right now the forecast is predicting highs Sunday to be in the low to mid 40's.

Hello Folks...Welcome To Snowy Bulcher!

Oh, where do we start? Well let's first start by saying that this is only Blog 1 of 2 that you will be seeing from us today. We are going to give you a preliminary report on conditions now, then go out and check things out, take some pictures, and then report back with findings as well as the posting of pictures for everyone's enjoyment. Hope that sounds like a good plan to you.

Well yesterday....it snowed and snowed...and snowed. According to all the weather reports, it was the snowiest day on record for our area since like 1978 or something crazy like that. It was just phenomenal. After it started snowing yesterday morning, it never stopped. In fact it was lightly snowing last night when we went to bed, so no telling how much it snowed overnight. But as of 9:45 a.m., here is where we stand: NO current precipitation falling and nor do we anticipate anymore snow. We have a current temperature of 33 degrees. The sun is not out just yet, but believe it or not, we are expecting to see it by day's end. The high temperature today is supposed to be around 37, so there may be a little melting but probably not much. The main melting of the snow will likely start tomorrow (Saturday) when we are supposed to have a high of around 50 degrees. As a preliminary report, we are estimating that we got around 8 inches of snow...which is right at what we received around the holidays this past year. But again, we are going to go check it all out, see how a 4 wheel drive four-wheeler will make it thru it, etc. We also will be checking out the road conditions to and from the park, so stay tuned and check back later for your final blog & comprehensive report. We will be posting pictures and also be making a decision about the park's status for this weekend. One thing is for sure, if we decide to be open this weekend, there most definitely will be a delayed opening, but again, check back this afternoon/early evening for a full report and pictures.

SURFACE TEMPERATURES THIS MORNING RANGE FROM THE UPPER 20S TO NEAR FREEZING. HOWEVER... MOST AREA ROADS REMAIN COVERED IN A MIXTURE OF SNOW AND SLUSH WITH SOME ICY AREAS NOW BEING REPORTED. BRIDGES AND OVERPASSES ARE USUALLY THE FIRST TO ICE OVER WHEN TEMPERATURES FALL BELOW FREEZING. EVEN THOUGH ALL THE ROADS ARE NOT COVERED IN ICE... THE SNOW AND SLUSH IS CREATING SLICK AND HAZARDOUS TRAVEL. THIS ESPECIALLY APPLIES TO SECONDARY ROADS THAT ARE LESS TRAVELED. THE BIGGEST TRAVEL IMPACTS ARE EXPECTED NORTH OF A LINE FROM CISCO TO HILLSBORO TO PALESTINE WHERE MOST OF THE SNOW FELL.

MOTORISTS ARE STRONGLY URGED TO USE CAUTION THIS MORNING AND INTO THE AFTERNOON HOURS WHEN DRIVING ON AREA ROADS. AREA TEMPERATURES ARE NOT EXPECTED TO WARM ABOVE FREEZING UNTIL THE LATE MORNING AND AFTERNOON HOURS. LOCATIONS SOUTH OF A LINE FROM COMANCHE TO WACO TO PALESTINE WILL BE THE FIRST TO WARM ABOVE FREEZING LATE THIS MORNING. IF IT IS POSSIBLE... WAIT TO TRAVEL UNTIL THE AFTERNOON HOURS WHEN TEMPERATURES WARM ABOVE FREEZING AND ROAD CONDITIONS IMPROVE. IF YOU MUST TRAVEL THIS MORNING... Snow Day...



Well no precipitation overnight. But as of this morning, boy, how things changed! And conditions changed fast! As of 11:30 a.m., we have a current temperature of 33 degrees. Around 7 to 8 a.m., it started snowing & hasn't stopped since. It is currently coming down now. Everything is covered & accumulations are mounting. It is hard to tell how much snow we have received so far, but it looks to be around a good 4 to 5 inches on the ground already...and it is coming down really really hard now, so there is no telling what our final snow accumulation total will be...so we will keep you posted on that one. (So much for the forecast yesterday that said our area would miss the bulk of the storm and would only have 1 to 2 inches...that forecast went out the window fast!) Long story short...we have beautiful snow....all the schools in our area have already closed and while roads don't seem to be too bad now, in spots, things are already starting to get slick. What we anticipate throughout the day you might ask: well more snow...it is supposed to snow all day today and so far, that looks to be pretty accurate. We even saw one local forecast for our area that had now increased our potential predicted snow total...up to possible 7 or 8 inches for our area...but we will continue to monitor the situation. We have already topped out at our "high" temperature of the day, so it will be a cold one too! Road conditions are supposed to continue to get worse as we go thru the day.

Stay warm, be safe, & as of right now, we are accepting weekday appointments for winter snow trail riding, but we can advise you already that there appears to be big drifts that we have already encountered....so only 4 wheel drive vehicles are recommended. And yes, snowmobiles are welcome. Don't forget to bring that sled also! And last but not least....don't forget the camera!

NO rain overnight. This morning as of 10 a.m., we have a current temperature of 33 degrees. Burrr! It is cloudy today...NO sun. We'll warm up a little today, but not much...only a high temperature of 40 anticipated. We have received NO rain/snow thus far today. Snow is still in the forecast for tomorrow (Thursday) here in the Red River Valley....but conditions may not get too bad after all, but we'll just have to wait and see. The current forecast is predicting that all of us here in the Red River Valley will get some snow, but may miss the bulk of the storm...so we'll keep you posted.

TRAIL/WEATHER CONDITIONS

Hello Sunny Tuesday...

Well if we received any light snow flurries overnight, they must have melted on ground impact, because from overnight, we do not have any precipitation to report. Today at noon, we have a current temperature of 33 degrees with bright sunny skies. (Thank goodness for the sun, but unfortunately it won't be enough to warm us up.) Today we are enjoying clear, but cold conditions...very windy as well. We'll be doing good if we even reach a high of 40 degrees. We have received NO rain thus far today. The forecast is still predicting a 70% chance of rain/snow for Thursday, so we'll have to keep you posted.

It is time to start thinking about how you will be spending your upcoming Valentine's Day Weekend!

Hi Everyone....Our Blog Is Back!
And just in time for Valentine's Day Weekend.



Our apologizes for not getting back to blogging earlier this morning. After a much needed R&R weekend, the husband and I celebrated 6 years of married bliss (and 11 years of being together) on Super Bowl Sunday. And to think...RRMT, Inc. was the site where my hubby proposed several years back on a camping trip...smart man! For me, he couldn't have picked a better place that I hold more dear! Apparently he knew the way to my heart. Enough about the sappy stuff...moving on now! After getting caught up on emails and other stuff while away, be rest assured the blog is back and just in time to keep you updated on this crazy Texas weather....1, 2, 3...Get ready!

NO rain this weekend, but last (Sunday) night, we received 3 quarters of an inch of rain. For a while this morning, there was a fine mist falling, but nothing measurable to report, just to make for a messy, dreary, cold day. This afternoon as of 3:50 p.m., we have a current temperature of 39 degrees. It is cloudy and overcast today as the wind is really bad, making it feel even colder than it really is. Hang on to your seat because the weather from today just goes downhill from here...while we do not have any rain falling at the current moment, the forecast is calling for light (non-accumulating) snow late this evening/tonight and accumulating snow for Thursday. And the temperatures this week are going to feel like we are in the Arctic...low 40's to low/mid 30's for highs as we go thru the week. We'll keep everyone posted.

... COLD TONIGHT THEN WINTRY WEATHER EXPECTED ACROSS MUCH OF NORTH TEXAS EARLY THURSDAY INTO THURSDAY NIGHT...

A STRONG COLD FRONT WILL MOVE THROUGH NORTH TEXAS TONIGHT WITH NORTH WINDS INCREASING TO 15 TO 25 MPH. ALL OF THE PRECIPITATION WILL HAVE MOVED EAST OF THE AREA BY THE TIME TEMPERATURES FALL TO BELOW FREEZING DURING THE OVERNIGHT HOURS. LOW TEMPERATURES WILL FALL TO BETWEEN 24 AND 29 DEGREES ACROSS MOST OF NORTH TEXAS... SO ANY RESIDUAL WATER ON AREA ROADS WILL LIKELY FREEZE. PATCHY ICE IS LIKELY TO FORM DURING THE OVERNIGHT AND EARLY MORNING HOURS... MAKING ROADS SLICK. WIND CHILLS WILL BE IN THE LOW TEENS EARLY TUESDAY MORNING.

ANOTHER STORM SYSTEM WILL APPROACH THE AREA BY MIDWEEK WHILE TEMPERATURES REMAIN COLD ACROSS THE REGION. IT APPEARS AT THIS TIME THAT SUFFICIENT MOISTURE WILL MOVE NORTHWARD IN ADVANCE OF THIS SYSTEM FOR SNOWFALL TO OCCUR ACROSS MUCH OF NORTH TEXAS DURING THE DAY THURSDAY INTO THURSDAY EVENING. WHILE THERE IS STILL SOME UNCERTAINTY AS TO THE SPEED AND TRACK OF THE EVOLVING SYSTEM... WHICH COULD SIGNIFICANTLY AFFECT THE THERMAL PROFILE FAVORABLE FOR SNOW PRODUCTION... OVERALL CONFIDENCE IN THIS STORM SYSTEM IS INCREASING.

AREAS NORTH OF A KILLEEN TO WACO TO ATHENS LINE APPEAR TO HAVE THE BEST CHANCE FOR ACCUMULATING SNOWS DURING THE DAY THURSDAY. TEMPERATURES AT THE SURFACE WILL BE AT OR SLIGHTLY ABOVE FREEZING AT THE ONSET OF THE EVENT... WHICH MEANS THAT SNOW WILL LIKELY MELT INITIALLY... THEN ACCUMULATE AS HEAVIER BANDS DEVELOP. AT THIS TIME IT APPEARS THAT ACCUMULATIONS OF 1 TO 3 INCHES WILL BE POSSIBLE. UNCERTAINTY IN THE EXACT TRACK AND SPEED OF THIS SYSTEM COULD SIGNIFICANTLY AFFECT SNOWFALL ACCUMULATION TOTALS.

---So folks, by the end of the week, you might be snowmobiling again much like you could have done at Christmas. No, joking aside, it doesn't appear we will get as much as we did over the holidays, but it does look as though the approaching winter weather storm system that will arrive by end of the week may possibility be enough to make for some beautiful winter snow trail riding, but we still have to wait and see. Gorgeous Friday...

Sorry this blog is coming to everyone a bit late this afternoon...but today, finally, some nice weather...to make your Friday & upcoming weekend! So yes, we have been out enjoying it! NO rain yesterday or overnight. This afternoon as of 3:25 p.m., we have a current temperature of 54 degrees. We have enjoyed bright sunny skies all day long and even currently as the bright sun is still beaming. It has been a little on the windy side, but not too bad. With not a cloud in sight, we have received NO rain thus far today. It's been the perfect day to kick off the upcoming weekend...and the weekend may be a tad bit cooler...but should resemble the sunny skies, gorgeous day we have enjoyed today. Without further hesitation, time to kick off the weekend.

TRAILS
All of our trails are OPEN....this includes all trails on both the North & East sides. Bill's Woods & the New Property are both open as well...ENJOY!

Mountain Creek is at its normal level, except down toward the mouth of the Red River where we advise riders to use caution. No problem crossing Mountain Creek at this time. As always we would like to remind everyone that just because a trail was there on your last ride...don't expect it to be there on your next ride. Water (from the April 2009 rains) has really changed a lot of our trail system, so we advise everyone to use extreme caution even when riding on trails that you were once familiar.

While there may be a few standing puddles in low lying/shaded areas, for the most part, all trails will be dry. NO dust & great riding! It's been way too long since we've had a nice weekend upon us like this one coming up. Come ride Bulcher soon!

Riders to RRMT, Inc. will now find that RRMT, Inc. has over 30 new point of interest signs installed out on the trails. These are a great new addition to the park & we are very proud of them! These signs will help you catch the iRide Bulcher, Texas fever as you continue to learn about the various unique parts of the RRMT, Inc. Facility!

** Please note that as of the winter riding season, our sign project has been put on hold. We will resume crafting and putting up the rest of these signs probably in the spring time frame, when all winter weather is completely over with!

RED RIVER
The Red River remains at its normal level. There still remains some lurking murky water/quicksand being pushed up into the mouth of Mountain Creek from the river, so watch out for it...getting stuck is possible.

CREEK
While riding in Mountain Creek is possible and crossing the creek is also possible...please use caution when in the creek, especially further down the creek toward the river. It is very possible to sink your recreational vehicle in the creek due to quicksand & lots of mud if not careful. Please note that if you get stuck, RRMT, Inc. is under no obligation to tow you out!

NO rain yesterday or overnight. This morning as of 9:10 a.m., we have a current temperature of 36 degrees. Finally...some sun today as it has already made its debut thankfully. But don't let the sun fool you....as today is supposed to be cooler than the previous days this week...only low to mid 40's expected for highs today. While we have received NO rain thus far today and do not expect any today during the day, the forecast is calling for a big potential for rain showers tomorrow and maybe even the possibility for some of that rain to roll in as early as tonight, but we'll just have to wait and see.

Happy Groundhog Day!



Well if you already heard the report, Mr. Groundhog (Punxsutawney Phil) in PA saw his shadow this morning...so you all know what that means...6 more weeks of winter! Gees, not sure about you all, but we're ready for spring. Winter & the white stuff (snow) is pretty & great every now and again...but let's face it...we're spoiled by the mild Texas climate that all of us living here in the Lone Star State have come to love. So we'll just have to wait and see if Mr. Groundhog's prediction is accurate or not.

NO rain overnight. This morning as of 9:20 a.m., we have a current temperature of 37 degrees. Today is shaping up to be just like yesterday...cloudy and overcast. The forecast says we'll see the sun by afternoon, but we're not buying it. Nevertheless, maybe a tad warmer today, but if it is, it won't be by much...high of only 50 expected today. We have received NO rain thus far today.

Luckily the forecast for this weekend looks sunny & bright...but only if it could get here faster!

Happy February!

As a recap, after trying to figure out a complete moisture total to report to curious minds wanting to know...this past Friday's (1/29) rain & snow totals...we are estimating to be around 2 inches total. NO rain yesterday or overnight. This morning as of 10:15 a.m., we have a current temperature of 35 degrees. There has been a very heavy fog throughout the Red River Valley this morning, but it is gradually starting to lift thankfully. It is cloudy and overcast today as we only anticipate upper 40's for highs today. We have received NO rain thus far today.

It's never too early to start dreaming of a nice, sunny weekend of trail riding!

Wonderful Sunday Morning...

NO rain/precipitation overnight. Looks as though today is going to be much like yesterday...cold, very cold. As of 9:45 a.m., we have a current temperature of 28 degrees. It is cloudy and overcast again today...NO sun. Those venturing out to Bulcher today will experience extremely foggy conditions. Also, right now outside, there is a fine precipitation falling. It is a cross between a fine wet rain mist, but then at other times, it is more like a small snowflake. But again, it is very light, so it won't amount to much. The forecast is calling for highs today to be in the low 40's...but we'll be doing good if we even make it that "warm."

Current park conditions are as follows:

* There is still a light snow covering over everything.
* Most trees are either iced over or have snow on them.
* Trails are a cross between being frozen (ones with standing frozen puddles) and somewhat muddy due to a little thawing.

If you venture out to Bulcher today...dress in layers & bring a camera. NO problem with road conditions getting here.

Thinking of a Weekend Snow Getaway?

Pricey Ski Resort vs. Affordable Bulcher, Texas?
Only a short commute...and you can enjoy snow!

Well let's see...where do we start...yesterday we enjoyed a steady snowfall pretty much all day long. There was periods of heavy snow fall but for the most part, it was just a slow, steady snow fall all day long. What we have now...a snow covered oasis! Everything is covered with snow. Those venturing here from the DFW metroplex will not experience any road problems, but when coming out of Muenster right after Turtle Hill Golf Course, the roads get a little icy (but not bad...we made it without 4 wheel drive) and from Turtle Hill Golf Course on out to Bulcher, is when you will experience and see the sides of the ground more heavily covered in snow. While this snow does not compare to the Christmas snow (8 iniches +) we had back in December...we do have 1/2 inch to 1 inch of snow on the ground currently. Those coming from the west will experience worse conditions, Saint Jo & towns to the west have even more snow & worse road conditions we are told.

So what should you expect this weekend...snowy, icy, frozen trails. Very cold conditions...as of 9:30 a.m., we have a current temperature of 24 degrees. It is cloudy/overcast today...NO sun. Furthermore, as of this morning, we have no falling precipation...rain nor snow and are not expecting any today. Our high today is supposed to be in the low 30's...so we'll be doing good if we even get above freezing. Reccomendations for this weekend include dressing in lots of layers and also packing a camera...it is so pretty with everything covered in snow.

We will try to post some pictures on this blog later on this evening...so everyone can enjoy!

DELAYED OPENING TIME - SATURDAY, JANUARY 30

We have just decided that we are going to have a delayed opening time tomorrow, Saturday, January 30. We had originally thought we would open at normal time, 8 a.m., but due to freezing conditions that are anticipated tonight, we feel that a delayed opening time tomorrow is necessary due to anticipated icy conditions possible tomorrow morning. Thus, we have changed our park hours in the previous blog below that we just posted at 10 a.m. this morning.

Saturday's (tomorrow) park hours will be 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

We plan on being open on Sunday (1/31/2010) as well, but we will announce Sunday's park hours sometime tomorrow.

P.S. It is still snowing here...but now it is a very light snow...no accumulations.

TRAIL/WEATHER CONDITIONS

Snowy Friday...


NO additional rain/precipitation overnight. As of an hour ago, it started snowing & it is snowing heavily as we write this blog. We have huge, beautiful flakes coming down. The roads are not bad here now, but we just found out that most of the local schools in our area are now making plans to close early by noon or early afternoon. As of 10 a.m., we have a current temperature of 33 degrees with a wind chill of 26 degrees....it feels sooooo cold! It is a cloudy/overcast day...as we have already reached our "high" temperature of the day. The problem up here is that due to the current near-freezing temperatures, the rain we got yesterday & the snow that we are getting now will be freezing soon (as the temperature drops) on our roadways making driving treacherous. Today & tonight should be all of the freezing temperatures and anticipated precipitation. The weekend looks like a very cold one, but the forecast is predicating sun with no further precipitation, but we'll just have to wait and see. There is a current winter weather advisory in effect for our area as detailed below:

*** NOTE: This weekend...you can be rest assured that park conditions are wet, muddy, and cold. Furthermore, expect slick spots as well as possible icy trails. While conditions are very wet now, and there are standing puddles everywhere...a lot could change pending how much snow we receive as well. We don't imagine that we will have big accumulations, but according to reports over by Bowie and Sunset, the ground is already covered (with snow) over there and that storm is moving our way. The main concern will be the icy roads in and around our area.

RRMT, INC.'S RAIN GAUGE RECAP
Just as a recap, leading up to today, here are this week's rainfall totals that we pulled off each of our daily blogs from the week:

TRAILS
All of our trails are OPEN....this includes all trails on both the North & East sides. Bill's Woods & the New Property are both open as well...ENJOY!

Mountain Creek is at its normal level, except down toward the mouth of the Red River where we advise riders to use caution. No problem crossing Mountain Creek at this time. As always we would like to remind everyone that just because a trail was there on your last ride...don't expect it to be there on your next ride. Water (from the April 2009 rains) has really changed a lot of our trail system, so we advise everyone to use extreme caution even when riding on trails that you were once familiar.

Riders to RRMT, Inc. will now find that RRMT, Inc. has over 30 new point of interest signs installed out on the trails. These are a great new addition to the park & we are very proud of them! These signs will help you catch the iRide Bulcher, Texas fever as you continue to learn about the various unique parts of the RRMT, Inc. Facility!

** Please note that as of the winter riding season, our sign project has been put on hold. We will resume crafting and putting up the rest of these signs probably in the spring time frame, when all winter weather is completely over with!

RED RIVER
The Red River remains at its normal level. There still remains some lurking murky water/quicksand being pushed up into the mouth of Mountain Creek from the river, so watch out for it...getting stuck is possible.

CREEK
While riding in Mountain Creek is possible and crossing the creek is also possible...please use caution when in the creek, especially further down the creek toward the river. It is very possible to sink your recreational vehicle in the creek due to quicksand & lots of mud if not careful. Please note that if you get stuck, RRMT, Inc. is under no obligation to tow you out!

WEEKEND RV RENTALS

TRAIL/WEATHER CONDITIONS

Good Thursday Evening...

NO rain yesterday but starting late last night thru all day today...and even now....it has rained, and rained, and rained. It has just been a slow rain, saturating everything. It was a gloomy, cold, dreary day. Looks as though 1 inch of rain was in the gauge, but when looking around the park campgrounds, there are huge puddles standing everywhere. It is a big, muddy mess. As of 7:15 p.m., we have a current temperature of 38 degrees. We're expecting freezing temperatures overnight and the forecast is telling us that we stand a good chance for the rain in our area to change over to a light wintry mix by late tonight/early tomorrow morning, but we'll just have to update you tomorrow. As of now, no problems with road conditions...just lots of water everywhere due to the rain though.

Pending the weather tonight/tomorrow, in tomorrow's blog we will be making a judgment call on the park's status for this coming weekend (whether we will for sure be open or not)...so check back with us tomorrow!

Half Way Thru The Week On This Wednesday...

NO rain yesterday or overnight. This morning as of 9:55 a.m., we have a current temperature of 52 degrees. It is cloudy and overcast this morning as we only anticipate highs today to be in the upper 50's. Enjoy because it is all downhill from today as far as weather goes...tomorrow (Thursday) the forecast is calling for rain & thunderstorms and on Friday a.m., a light wintry mix is expected. But we'll just have to wait and see. We have received NO rain thus far today. There is a special weather alert for our area as issued by the National Weather Service preparing people for the possible bad weather conditions toward the end of the week. ... A STRONG WINTER STORM SYSTEM WILL AFFECT NORTH TEXAS THURSDAY THROUGH FRIDAY...

A POWERFUL UPPER LEVEL STORM SYSTEM WILL MOVE THROUGH THE SOUTHERN PLAINS AND BRING A PERIOD OF UNSETTLED WEATHER AND COLDER TEMPERATURES TO NORTH TEXAS. MOISTURE AND LIFT AHEAD OF THE UPPER LEVEL SYSTEM WILL RESULT IN WIDESPREAD RAIN AND A FEW THUNDERSTORMS THURSDAY AND INTO THURSDAY NIGHT. RAINFALL AMOUNTS WILL AVERAGE 1 TO 2 INCHES... WITH TOTALS UP TO 3 INCHES POSSIBLE NORTH OF THE I-20 CORRIDOR.

MEANWHILE A STRONG COLD FRONT WILL MOVE SOUTH ACROSS NORTH TEXAS THURSDAY AND THURSDAY NIGHT. AS TEMPERATURES COOL BEHIND THE FRONT... THE RAIN SHOULD CHANGE OVER TO A LIGHT WINTRY MIX OF PRECIPITATION TO THE NORTHWEST OF A LINE FROM LAMPASAS... TO WACO... TO TERRELL... TO SULPHUR SPRINGS BY FRIDAY MORNING. ICE ACCUMULATIONS OF UP TO A QUARTER INCH ARE POSSIBLE ALONG AND NORTHWEST OF A MINERAL WELLS TO GAINESVILLE LINE. A WINTER STORM WATCH HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR THESE AREAS AS A RESULT.

SOME MINOR ACCUMULATIONS OF ICE OCCURRING FROM LIGHT FREEZING DRIZZLE WILL BE POSSIBLE ACROSS THE REMAINDER OF NORTH TEXAS FRIDAY MORNING.

THE MOST SIGNIFICANT WINTER PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED TO REMAIN OVER THE TEXAS PANHANDLE AND OKLAHOMA WHERE THE CENTER OF UPPER LEVEL STORM SYSTEM IS FORECAST TO TRACK. HOWEVER... DUE TO UNCERTAINTIES ON THE EXACT TRACK OF THE SYSTEM... RESIDENTS ACROSS NORTH TEXAS ARE ENCOURAGED TO MONITOR THE LATEST FORECASTS FOR ANY CHANGES DURING THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS.

TRAIL/WEATHER CONDITIONS

Sunny & Bright Tuesday...

NO rain yesterday or overnight. This morning as of 8:25 a.m., we have a current temperature of 35 degrees. It is very cold this morning despite the gorgeous sunny skies that we are enjoying. It is going to be another pretty decent day...upper 50's anticipated for highs (and hopefully the wind won't blow as much as it did yesterday...fingers crossed on that one). We have received NO rain thus far today. Enjoy this weather while it lasts...because according to the forecast, it is just going to get colder as the week goes on. On Thursday, right now the forecast is saying that we have a big chance of getting rain...with the slight possibility of that rain changing over to snow Thursday night/early Friday morning. But that's a few days away still...so we'll keep you posted.
