TRAIL/WEATHER CONDITIONS

Happy Christmas Eve...

Only in Texas is it possible to have such crazy weather. I think it is this crazy weather that Texans actually love (at least I do)...the weather changes so rapidly that you never have to get tired of the same 'ole thing & it seems like we get a little bit of everything here. Yesterday was a really nice day. At one point yesterday, I remember glancing at the temperature reading in my vehicle only to see "74"! Really...74 I thought...so hard to believe for December 23. But then today...reality check...Now less than 24 hours later, we have totally different weather. Yesterday we were all dreaming of spring & a sunny, warm destination...today, it's the arctic as we think of the mountains and a winter getaway. Overnight...rain, rain, and more rain. Actually we had some pretty big thunderstorms...it actually knocked our power out, but luckily it has been restored now. At this point, we haven't made it out to the rain gauge, but just from looking out, we can tell that we received a significant rainfall amount...because there are puddles standing everywhere & it is muddy. We will try to look in the rain gauge and get an actual reading for you as soon as possible. On top of the fact that it rained overnight, it actually is misting rain right now as well. It is a cold, extremely WINDY, gloomy, winter Christmas Eve...with a current temperature of 35 degrees at 9:20 a.m. According to the forecast, we have actually already reached our "high temperature" of the day with our current temperature of 35, so brace yourself...because it is going to be very very cold today with no warm-up! There is 100% chance of precipitation today, with accumulations of snow predicted for our area ranging from 2-5 inches. But at the current time, we have received NO snow. Everything falling right now is still in the form of rain. We will keep you posted. For those of you that wanted a White Christmas, looks as though you'll get your wish this year! But I guess we shouldn't get our hopes up too high until the snow arrives :-)

RRMT, Inc. Staff

P.S. Since the weather is threatening snow...we thought we would remind everyone of our wintry weather park operation hours.

WINTRY WEATHER PARK OPERATION HOURS

For curious minds...because we start to get these questions as winter approaches..."Are you open when it snows & Can I come ride?" If it is a weekday (Monday-Friday)...even with snow, members may make appointments to come to the park as usual. If it is a weekend (Saturday & Sunday), and it snows...our park will more than likely be open, but we encourage you to check our website or call our park office to verify we are indeed open. If we are open on a weekend (in the case of snow), then we welcome members, guests, and visitors to come ride (as usual on a weekend). .

* In the case of extremely treacherous weather...ice, sleet, snow, etc...RRMT, Inc. always reserves the right for the safety of its customers to shut down the park. If this ever occurs, it will be posted on our website as well as on our park office answering machine. *
