PICTURES
1 p.m. Update
Everyone can read the blog below (posted at 8 a.m.) concerning the rain we received yesterday and overnight, but for now, everyone can absorb these pictures taken at the park just a little while ago. All of these pictures are of the CREEK, not the RIVER. We didn't even make it to the river. If the creek level is this high, we can only imagine that the Red River is bank to bank and rolling.
The Good News is that some of the water had already receded by the time we got around to taking these pictures....The Bad News though is that there is still a lot of water at this time. You can take a look at the pictures and judge for yourself.
Right now, the trails on the east side of the creek are still not accessible because the creek is too high to cross. Trails on the north side of the facility are open. Not a good idea to ride in the creek at this time. All trails are wet and muddy. Some trails will have standing water in them as well. It is very likely that certain trails may have been washed out, so do NOT assume a trail is there because it was there last week.
We are thinking by the weekend that the water in Mountain Creek should recede enough at least in a couple of spots so crossing the creek to access the trails on the east side will be do-able...but we'll just have to wait and see. We'll also have to wait and see how much we dry out before the weekend...because sunshine and warm temperatures between now and Saturday will determine how wet the trails will be for weekend riding.
