TRAIL/WEATHER CONDITIONS

Finally Friday!

A follow-up from yesterday....nice day but on the cold side even with sun. NO rain though.

Overnight NO rain. Currently this morning as of 7:45 a.m., we have clear, sunny skies, and temperatures in the low 40's. We are expecting temperatures to warm up to the low 60's today, so riding should be perfect for those that are able to start their weekends early. We have received NO rain thus far today. We have a bright weekend forecast ahead, so without hesitation, let's get the weekend started!

RRMT, INC.'S RAIN GAUGE RECAP
Just as a recap, leading up to today, here are this week's rainfall totals that we pulled off each of our daily blogs from the week:

*Monday--NO RAIN
overnight-- NO RAIN
* Tuesday--A few rain sprinkles but nothing measurable to report
overnight--NO RAIN
* Wednesday--NO RAIN
overnight--NO RAIN
* Thursday-- NO RAIN
overnight-- NO RAIN
* Friday-- NO RAIN as of 7:45 a.m.

Here's your usual comprehensive Friday report on detailed park conditions...

TRAILS
All of our trails are OPEN both on the North and East sides of the facility. (Except Bill's Woods & the New Property still remain closed at this time.) Even though we received some rain sprinkles on Tuesday, for the most part, it was a very dry week. Because we are experiencing dry conditions, dust is to be anticipated. Furthermore, as a result of our dry conditions, we do not anticipate riders seeing any puddles or mud out on the actual trails.

RED RIVER
The Red River is bank to bank in some places, but then very narrow in other places, which has allowed the water to be split which has created various sandbars. The amount of water that the river has pushed up into the mouth of Mountain Creek (where it joins the Red River) has now pretty much receded (since we've been so dry). But even due to our dry conditions, always be on the lookout for that occasional unexpected area of quicksand that lurks in the creek...you need always be careful to avoid any quicksand because getting stuck is always a possibility even when you least expect it.

CREEK
The amount of water being pushed up into Mountain Creek is extremely minimal at this time. Riders will find that they can ride in the creek the entire way to the river currently. Similarly, since riders can ride in the creek the entire way to the river, thus the creek is crossable in a number of areas so riders may easily access the trails on both the North and East sides of the facility.

With a forecast of 60 degree temperatures in store for the upcoming weekend, February weather couldn't look better to spend some time outdoors...riding and camping. Whatever your weekend plans....Have A Great One!

Just a reminder that a burn ban still remains in effect for Cooke County and thus at RRMT, Inc. Thus, while camping is permitted, RRMT, Inc. is strictly enforcing the burn ban & thus NO OUTDOOR FIRES are permitted under any circumstances!

We will be OPEN this weekend both tomorrow, Saturday, February 9 and Sunday, February 10 with hours of operation each day of 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. All Members, Guests, and Visitors Welcome This Weekend!

Happy Trails,
RRMT, Inc. Staff
