TRAIL/WEATHER CONDITIONS

Tuesday Has Arrived...

NO precipitation yesterday, overnight, or thus far today. This morning as of 10:45 a.m., we have a current temperature of 36 degrees. The skies are cloudy and overcast, as we all just wait to see what the gloomy skies will bring us. Not getting any warmer today...as we have topped out at our "high temperature" already this morning, so it is going to do nothing but get colder today. Park conditions still remain muddy/slushy, but a fair amount of snow still remains on grassy areas since we really haven't warmed up enough for it all to melt yet. We are all just in "wait mode" right now to see if and when the next round of snow is to arrive. The forecast is still predicting 1 to 2 (possibly 3) inches of snow for our area to arrive sometime later this afternoon/tonight, but we'll just have to wait and see.

Much like yesterday, as of this morning, there is a winter advisory in effect for our area as issued by the National Weather Service that we thought we would share with everyone:

Issued by The National Weather Service
Dallas/Fort Worth, TX
3:40 am CST, Tue., Dec. 29, 2009

... WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY TO 9 AM CST WEDNESDAY...

THE WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW IS NOW IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY TO 9 AM CST WEDNESDAY.

PRECIPITATION WILL DEVELOP ACROSS MOST OF NORTH TEXAS BY THIS AFTERNOON. THE PRECIPITATION MAY START OUT AS RAIN LATE THIS MORNING OR EARLY THIS AFTERNOON WITH TEMPERATURES IN THE UPPER 30S. A CHANGEOVER TO SNOW IS EXPECTED DURING THE AFTERNOON HOURS AS TEMPERATURES FALL INTO THE LOWER AND MID 30S.

SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS ON THE GRASS WILL RANGE FROM 1 TO 2 INCHES. STEADY SNOW IS EXPECTED DURING THE LATE AFTERNOON AND EARLY EVENING HOURS WHICH IS LIKELY TO CREATE SLICK BRIDGES AND OVERPASSES.

ALTHOUGH THE SNOW WILL TAPER OFF AFTER THIS EVENING... STEADY TEMPERATURES NEAR FREEZING ARE FORECAST TO PERSIST OVERNIGHT.

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY MEANS THAT PERIODS OF WINTER PRECIPITATION MAY CAUSE TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR SLIPPERY ROADS AND PLAN ON SOME TRAVEL DELAYS.
