TRAIL/WEATHER CONDITIONS

Welcome To Your Monday...

Hi Everyone...after a crazy Christmas weekend (weather-wise...see Christmas Eve & Christmas Day blogs for more info.), we are back to blogging & have a lot to talk about this morning. We hope everyone had a great Christmas. But now it is time to start thinking about your upcoming New Year's Holiday Weekend.

As of 9:25 a.m., we have a current temperature of 29 degrees. We have bright sunny skies as we anticipate temperatures only in the low 40's for highs today. We have received no further precipitation (in the form of rain, sleet, or snow) since Christmas Eve (12/24) Night. A lot of the snow at the park has melted which has created muddy & slushy park riding conditions. However, some snow still remains in grassy areas. No problem with driving conditions in and around the Red River Valley area. The forecast is predicting additional snowfall for our area...1 to 3 inches anticipated with accumulations likely. Not sure if this snow is due to arrive late tonight or sometime tomorrow early morning...we'll have to keep you posted. All we know is that right now skies are clear.

As of this morning, there is a special winter weather alert for our area as issued by the National Weather Service that we thought we would share with everyone:

Issued by The National Weather Service
Dallas/Fort Worth, TX
3:51 am CST, Mon., Dec. 28, 2009

... WINTER WEATHER TO RETURN TO PARTS OF NORTH TEXAS TUESDAY AND TUESDAY NIGHT...

A COLD AIRMASS WILL REMAIN ACROSS NORTH AND CENTRAL TEXAS FOR MUCH OF THE WEEK. A STORM SYSTEM WILL MOVE ACROSS TEXAS ON TUESDAY AND TUESDAY NIGHT AND BRING WIDESPREAD PRECIPITATION TO THE AREA. TEMPERATURES WILL BE COLD ENOUGH FOR ACCUMULATING SNOWS ACROSS PARTS OF NORTH TEXAS... WHICH COULD LEAD TO TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES BY LATE TUESDAY MORNING OR EARLY TUESDAY AFTERNOON.

THE BEST CHANCE FOR ACCUMULATING SNOW WILL BE IN AREAS ALONG AND NORTH OF A LINE FROM LAMPASAS... TO WACO... TO CANTON. SOUTH OF THIS LINE PRECIPITATION WILL FALL AS RAIN OR POSSIBLY A MIX OF RAIN AND SNOW.

IN AREAS THAT ARE EXPECTED TO RECEIVE ACCUMULATING SNOW... AMOUNTS WILL AVERAGE ABOUT 1 INCH. ISOLATED SNOWFALL TOTALS UP TO 3 INCHES ARE POSSIBLE IN AREAS WEST OF INTERSTATE 35.

RESIDENTS AND TRAVELERS ACROSS NORTH AND CENTRAL TEXAS SHOULD BE PREPARED FOR DANGEROUS DRIVING CONDITIONS ON TUESDAY.

THE SNOW CHANCES WILL END FROM WEST TO EAST TUESDAY NIGHT OR WEDNESDAY MORNING. TEMPERATURES WILL RISE ABOVE FREEZING IN ALL AREAS OF NORTH TEXAS BY LATE WEDNESDAY MORNING.

****** As always, RRMT, Inc. will keep you posted on current park conditions as we know more.
