TRAIL/WEATHER CONDITIONS

Happy Friday!

Surprisingly...all we received overnight was on and off mist, nothing measurable enough to report in the rain gauge. Currently this morning as of 10:30 a.m., we have cloudy, overcast skies, and it's been drizzling rain thus far this morning. The temperature is approximately 34 degrees in Bulcher this morning. Very cold! Another typical dreary winter day. The moisture we have been receiving even though it’s not much, just drizzle, is much needed and will help settle the dust we have been having at the park as a result of the very dry conditions.

Despite a dreary day today, hard to believe, but the outlook on the weekend looks bright...it is Texas...wait 5 minutes and the weather changes luckily. So in light of the bright weekend forecast, let's get the weekend started!

RRMT, INC.'S RAIN GAUGE RECAP
Just as a recap, leading up to today, here are this week's rainfall totals that we pulled off each of our daily blogs from the week:

*Monday--NO RAIN
overnight-- NO RAIN
* Tuesday--NO RAIN
overnight--NO RAIN
* Wednesday--NO RAIN
overnight--NO RAIN
* Thursday-- NO RAIN
overnight-- Mist/Drizzle Thru The Night
* Friday-- Mist/Drizzle Thus Far as of 10:30 a.m. (but no measurable amount can be reported)

Here's your usual comprehensive Friday report on detailed park conditions...

TRAILS
All of our trails are OPEN both on the North and East sides of the facility. (Except per our 1/17/08 park news announcement, Bill's Woods & the New Property are closed.)Per our rain gauge report, it's been a dry week up until the last part of the week...the mist/drizzle of rain has finally brought us some much needed moisture. Despite the little moisture we have received, our area still remains on the dry side. Currently due to the recent moisture, dust is not anticipated. But by Sunday, our soil will have soaked up the moisture, and the dust may start flying by then. But since we are still on the dry side, we do not anticipate riders seeing any puddles or mud out on the actual trails.

RED RIVER
The Red River is bank to bank in some places, but then very narrow in other places, which has allowed the water to be split which has created various sandbars. The amount of water that the river has pushed up into the mouth of Mountain Creek (where it joins the Red River) has now pretty much receded (since we've been so dry). However, due to the recent dreary, damp conditions we have been having lately, the end of the creek is starting to become a little swampier with quicksand. So please be advised that you need to be careful to avoid any quicksand because getting stuck is always a possibility particularly currently as these damp conditions have seemed to move the quicksand around.

CREEK
The amount of water being pushed up into Mountain Creek is extremely minimal at this time. As always, it is advised that you be on the lookout for occasional spots of quicksand to avoid getting stuck particularly due to our damp, cold conditions this past week which has allowed the end of the creek's sand to get somewhat sloppy. Riders will find that they can ride in the creek the entire way to the river currently. Similarly, since riders can ride in the creek the entire way to the river, thus the creek is crossable in a number of areas so riders may easily access the trails on both the North and East sides of the facility.

It's been a cold, damp week...hopefully today concludes the last day of winter....Texas weather changes fast...don't miss out...get rid of the "Winter Blues" that this week brought and get out to RRMT, Inc. for some fabulous weather this weekend. We are expecting temperatures in the 60's for both Saturday and Sunday!

Final update for the evening as of 8:50 p.m., NO rain today...just cold.

We will be OPEN this weekend both tomorrow, Saturday, January 26 and Sunday, January 27 with hours of operation each day of 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. All Members, Guests, and Visitors Welcome This Weekend!
