TRAIL/WEATHER CONDITIONS

Good Tuesday Morning Folks...

Well our blog has to start out something like this...

While the TCU Horned Frogs came away short last night when the 4th quarter ended in Glendale, Arizona, the entire frog team played their hearts out in the bowl game & we wanted to give a shout out to the horned frog football team to say "Awesome Season"...Keep Your Heads Up...We're Proud of You! While losing this game is hard, everyone is already excited and looking forward to next season. The sky's the limit! Go Frogs!

Now onto weather...

NO rain yesterday or overnight. This morning as of 8:15 a.m., we have a current temperature of 20 degrees. There is a heavy frost covering the ground this morning at wake-up. We don't have any sun thus far today...as it is cloudy and overcast at the current moment; however, we are expecting to see the sun today at some point. Even with the anticipated sun, we are not expecting too much of a warm-up today...low 40's expected for highs. We have received NO rain thus far today. Tip: Bundle Up & Stay Warm Today!

Similar to yesterday, there is a special winter weather alert for our area as issued by the National Weather Service that we thought we would share with everyone:

... ARCTIC AIRMASS TO BRING MUCH COLDER WEATHER TO NORTH TEXAS LATER THIS WEEK...

AN ARCTIC AIRMASS WILL ARRIVE IN NORTH TEXAS WEDNESDAY NIGHT AND BRING AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF FREEZING TEMPERATURES TO THE REGION. TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED TO DIP BELOW FREEZING AFTER MIDNIGHT WEDNESDAY NIGHT AND THEN REMAIN BELOW FREEZING THROUGH EARLY AFTERNOON SATURDAY FOR MOST LOCATIONS IN NORTH TEXAS.

WITH AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF SUB FREEZING TEMPERATURES EXPECTED... RESIDENTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO MAKE PREPARATIONS. A HARD FREEZE CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EXPOSED WATER PIPES AND CAN DAMAGE SENSITIVE VEGETATION. OUTDOOR PETS WILL ALSO REQUIRE PROTECTION FROM THIS ARCTIC OUTBREAK. WIND CHILL VALUES ARE EXPECTED TO FALL INTO THE SINGLE DIGITS OR LOWER DURING THE DAY THURSDAY AND CONTINUE INTO FRIDAY MORNING. EXTRA PROTECTIVE CLOTHING WILL BE NEEDED FOR ANYONE EXPECTED TO BE OUTDOORS AT THESE TIMES... ESPECIALLY CHILDREN GOING TO SCHOOL.

THERE IS ALSO SOME PRECIPITATION IN THE FORECAST WEDNESDAY NIGHT AS THE ARCTIC COLD FRONT MOVES THROUGH THE AREA. AT THIS TIME MUCH OF THE PRECIPITATION LOOKS TO FALL AS RAIN BEFORE THE DEEPER ARCTIC AIRMASS MOVES INTO THE REGION. THERE IS SOME POSSIBILITY THAT PRECIPITATION WILL BRIEFLY CHANGE OVER TO LIGHT FREEZING RAIN OR LIGHT SNOW BEFORE ENDING THURSDAY MORNING. NO ACCUMULATION OF WINTRY PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED AT THIS TIME. ANY ROADWAYS THAT REMAIN WET THURSDAY MORNING AS THE ARCTIC AIR MOVES IN MAY FREEZE OVER CAUSING SLICK SPOTS.

FURTHER DETAILS ON ANY POTENTIAL FREEZING PRECIPITATION AND THE DURATION OF THE FREEZING TEMPERATURES WILL BE PROVIDED AS THE EVENT NEARS.
