TRAIL/WEATHER CONDITIONS

Happy Friday...On This Bitterly Cold Morning!

NO rain yesterday or overnight...just trying to stay warm from the extremely cold weather we have been having here this week. This morning as of 8 a.m., we have a current temperature of 12 degrees, but due to the wind chill, it actually feels like -1 below outside. It is soooooooooo cold! With temperatures as cold as this, you would think we were at the North Pole, except minus the snow. We have not had temperatures like this in a long time. While the sun is starting to make its way out this morning, it is not going to be much help warming things up today. As we don't expect to even get above freezing today...in fact, for our area, the forecast predicted that we may not even get above 30 degrees today. We have received NO rain/precipitation thus far today. Of course, all roads & the ground is clear with no problems as we are just battling the extremely cold temperatures.

WIND CHILL ADVISORY
* Please note that there is a wind chill advisory in effect for Cooke County (the county our park is located in) until 10 am CST, (today) Fri., Jan. 8, 2010.

See below for more information regarding the wind chill advisory:

Issued by The National Weather Service
Dallas/Fort Worth, TX
5:41 am CST, Fri., Jan. 8, 2010

... WIND CHILL ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 AM CST THIS MORNING...

A WIND CHILL ADVISORY FOR WIND CHILL VALUES BELOW ZERO AT TIMES... REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 AM CST THIS MORNING.

TEMPERATURES THIS MORNING RANGE BETWEEN 10 TO 20 DEGREES ACROSS THE WIND CHILL ADVISORY AREA. THE VERY COLD LOW TEMPERATURES COMBINED WITH NORTH WINDS BETWEEN 15 AND 20 MPH WITH HIGHER GUSTS WILL RESULT IN FRIGID WIND CHILLS THROUGH THE EARLY MORNING HOURS. WIND CHILLS RANGING BETWEEN ZERO TO FIVE BELOW ZERO ARE EXPECTED.

A WIND CHILL ADVISORY MEANS THAT VERY COLD AIR AND STRONG WINDS WILL COMBINE TO GENERATE LOW WIND CHILLS. PROLONGED EXPOSURE TO THE COLD MAY RESULT IN FROST BITE AND LEAD TO HYPOTHERMIA IF PRECAUTIONS ARE NOT TAKEN. IF YOU MUST VENTURE OUTDOORS... WEAR A HEAVY COAT... HAT AND GLOVES.

---- ** If you have looked at the forecast, tomorrow (Saturday) is the day that the forecast is predicting that we'll get above freezing, but tomorrow, we will barely get above it. On Sunday the forecast is predicting the high to reach 40, but that is about it. So while the forecast is predicted to be sunny for the weekend, it sure is going to be cold.

RRMT, INC. OPEN THIS WEEKEND WITH DELAYED OPENING TIME
In despite of the cold, our park will be OPEN this weekend, but please note that due to the cold temperatures, we will have a delayed opening time, of 9 a.m., both tomorrow (Saturday) and Sunday. Thus, RRMT, Inc. will be OPEN this weekend...Saturday, January 9 & Sunday, January 10! This weekend only, we will have park operation hours of 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days. All Members, Guests, and Visitors Welcome this weekend!

NEW PARK BROCHURES
Furthermore, our brand new park brochures arrived late yesterday afternoon! So as of this weekend & going forward, these new brochures will be available to all individuals requesting literature about our park. Just the start of new stuff we will be getting in for 2010 for the park. Get excited!

TRIALS EVENT THIS WEEKEND POSTPONED
One last announcement is to let everyone know that if they had looked on our events page on our website, our park was originally scheduled to host a trials competition (NTTA'S 31ST ANNUAL NOVICE CUP/PRESIDENT'S CUP 2-DAY TRIAL) this weekend, Sat. & Sun. Due to the weather, that event has been postponed & it has already been rescheduled for the weekend of January 16 & 17 at our park. So mark that change down on your calendars & don't show up this weekend at our park for this event because it is NOT this weekend!

It's time to kick off your weekend, so here is a recap to get you ready for the weekend...a really cold weekend!

No moisture this week in the Red River Valley.

TRAILS
All of our trails are OPEN....this includes all trails on both the North & East sides. Bill's Woods & the New Property are both open as well...ENJOY!

Mountain Creek is at its normal level, except down toward the mouth of the Red River where we advise riders to use caution. No problem crossing Mountain Creek at this time. Despite the fact that we didn't have any moisture this week, due to the cold temperatures all week long and the fact that we really haven't warmed up since all the snow/rain during Christmas week, it should come as no surprise that things are still a bit muddy in places and that standing (frozen) puddles should be anticipated on some low lying/shaded trails. Furthermore, all creeks & bodies of water are frozen so please use caution. DO NOT DRIVE OVER LARGE BODIES OF FROZEN WATER! ALSO WATCH FOR FROZEN/SLICK SPOTS ON TRAILS! Reminder: Just because a trail was there on your last ride...don't expect it to be there on your next ride. Water (from the April 2009 rains) has really changed a lot of our trail system, so we advise everyone to use extreme caution even when riding on trails that you were once familiar.

Riders to RRMT, Inc. will now find that RRMT, Inc. has over 30 new point of interest signs installed out on the trails. These are a great new addition to the park & we are very proud of them! These signs will help you catch the iRide Bulcher, Texas fever as you continue to learn about the various unique parts of the RRMT, Inc. Facility!
** Please note that due to the extremely frigid weather, our sign project has been put on hold. We will resume crafting and putting up the rest of these signs probably in the spring time frame, as this winter is proving itself to be a very cold one!

RED RIVER
The Red River is at a higher level than normal. There still remains some lurking murky water/quicksand being pushed up into the mouth of Mountain Creek from the river, so watch out for it...getting stuck is possible.

CREEK
While riding in Mountain Creek is possible and crossing the creek is also possible...please use caution when in the creek, especially further down the creek toward the river. It is very possible to sink your recreational vehicle in the creek due to quicksand if not careful. Also, be sure to watch for frozen patches of water in Mountain Creek that could break if you drive over & then you could sink into mud or quicksand. Please note that if you get stuck, RRMT, Inc. is under no obligation to tow you out!

** Due to the extremely frigid temperatures, tent camping this weekend is not recommended! **

WEEKEND RV RENTALS
It's too cold to sleep in a tent. You need a RV Rental!
Do you have your RV Rental for this weekend? RRMT, Inc. offers Member RV Site Rentals on a daily basis. Reservations are recommended if you desire a particular RV Site. Otherwise, all walk-up RV Site rentals are welcome as well. Please note that in addition to these rental sites, as usual, RRMT, Inc. also offers free other campsites that are always available via first come-first serve for your convenience.
